Wherever they work and whatever they do, people need to be safe at work. Caring for people’s safety involves prevention as well as being prepared for emergencies such as sudden illness and accidents. This course is designed for all those who are required to administer emergency first aid in the workplace. The course complies with HSE requirements and is valid for three years.

Prerequisites

No previous first aid experience is necessary.

Course description

Where an employer’s assessment for First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement is for an employer to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements. This includes looking after the equipment and facilities and calling the emergency services when required. In the absence of First Aiders, employers must appoint a person for this purpose. Please note: it should be remembered that Appointed Persons are not First Aiders (see the First Aid at Work course).
