Free personal training sessions from YMCA Trinity Group

Those looking to shed the festive pounds can get a helping hand with some free personal training sessions when they join YMCA Trinity Group’s gym at Gonville Place.

Memberships start at just £15.99 a month and for a limited time new members will receive two free personal training sessions. The gym at Queen Anne House, Gonville Place in Cambridge is open 24-hours a day so users have plenty of opportunity to make use of their membership.

The personal training sessions will be with fully qualified staff who can tailor exercise programmes to suit an individual’s needs, abilities or ambitions.

One gym member who has benefitted from a personal training programme is Mark. Mark is blind and after cancer treatment led to significant weight gain he turned to YMCA Trinity Group’s gym in Cambridge. With the help of Martin, one of YMCA Trinity Group’s volunteer personal trainers, and the support of his husband William, Mark has now shed 3.5st using a specially tailored programme.

Mark said “Coming to the gym has completely changed my life. At the start of 2017 I was four stone heavier and almost housebound due to my cancer medication, even simple tasks became a struggle.

“With the help from Martin and encouragement from William I am now fitter than I was at 17. I am more confident with my body and ability to do different things. Martin takes the time to plan my session so anything is possible, even running around Parker’s Piece in Cambridge – something I never thought I would be able to do.”

Julie Martin, Fitness and Training Manager at YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough said: “I’m delighted that Mark has benefitted so much from coming to the gym. Our gyms are accessible to everyone regardless of ability, disability, or medical condition; experienced staff are on hand to help everyone to meet their fitness and wellbeing goals.”
